The joy of rescue
There is no finer, nor more rewarding thing that a person can do, than to rescue a dog in distress!
To buy a pet from a breeder is simply to encourage more dogs to be bred for money – at a time when hundreds are already without loving homes, having been abandoned in rescues… or merely dumped on the streets.
But take on a rescued dog; give the love and confidence the animal has not been shown before; provide a stable home… and you will bring a frost-blighted bud back to full bloom.
There is nothing more uplifting than watching that cowering, worried frown of your new arrival turn to the utter confidence of a pet that knows it has its ‘master’ completely under the paw!
To date, I have found myself owned by three rescued Sprockers (Springer/Cocker Spaniels in some form of disguise) – each as different from the others as it is possible to be.
I can honestly say that they have enriched my life beyond words – and on occasions, have saved it.
These are their stories.
